Leslie Gonda has experienced both favorable and challenging circumstances in his life. In 1947, he and his wife left Hungary for Venezuela after enduring the horrors of World War II and surviving the Holocaust.

In 1963, the couple relocated to California, where they found themselves in the midst of a construction boom that brought substantial profits to some and bankruptcy to others. Despite the ups and downs of the country, Leslie and his sons, Louis and Steven, founded the company ILFC. Today, it is the second-largest leasing enterprise for airplanes.
