Biography of Lesopoval

Formation of the Group


The group Lesopoval was formed in 1992 with the participation of poet Mikhail Tanich. The lead singer is Sergey Korzhukov.

Early Life


Sergey Korzhukov was born on September 15, 1958 in Taganrog. His father, Mikhail Isaevich, was a responsible worker in Taganrog and was executed in 1938. Sergey received his high school diploma on June 22, 1941, the day the Great Patriotic War began.

War Years


In 1942, Sergey was drafted into the army and fought until 1945 on the 1st Baltic and 1st Belarusian fronts. He served as the commander of an anti-tank gun in the 33rd anti-tank brigade, participating in battles from Belarus to the Elbe. He was awarded the Orders of Glory III degree, the Red Star, the Patriotic War I degree, and 15 medals.

Post-War Life


After the war, Sergey lived in Rostov-on-Don and enrolled in the Engineering and Construction Institute. However, he was arrested in 1947 and imprisoned under Article 58 point 10, the same article his father was imprisoned under. He spent 6 years in various prisons and labor camps, including a lumber camp.

Musical Career


After his release in 1953, Sergey began his musical career in the 1950s. He worked with various Soviet composers and prominent artists in the field of entertainment, theater, and cinema. Some of his co-authors include Ya. Frenkel, V. Shainsky, A. Ostrovsky, O. Feltzman, Yu. Saulsky, V. Solovyov-Sedoi, N. Bogoslovsky, I. Nikolaev, R. Gorobets. He has collaborated with vocalists such as K. Shulzhenko, A. Pugacheva, I. Kobzon, M. Magomaev, E. Pieha, E. Khil, V. Leontiev, L. Dolina, A. Apina, and others.

Later Years and Achievements


Sergey Korzhukov has authored 15 books, including songbooks, with his last publications in 1998. He is known for his popular and well-loved songs in Russia. He has received numerous accolades, including the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Prize (1997), the Jubilee Contest "Song of the Year" (25th anniversary), and the National Music Award "Ovation" (1997). He was awarded the Order of Honor in 1998 and was honored with the title "Meritorious Artist of Russia" in March 2001.

The Main Project - Lesopoval


The main project of Mikhail Tanich in recent years has been the group "Lesopoval." He has written over 100 songs for this ensemble. Sergey Korzhukov serves as the director of the group.

Biography of Other Band Members


- Sergey Korzhukov: Born in 1963 in Moscow, he studied music at a school specializing in the trumpet. He served in the military orchestra of the Taman Division and later worked as a musical director in various organizations. He was awarded the title "Meritorious Artist of Russia" in 2001.
- Sergey Kuprik: Born in 1973 in Moscow, he studied vocal and guitar at the Gnesin School and continued his vocal training under Natalia Andreyanova. He joined Lesopoval in 1994 and was awarded the title "Meritorious Artist of Ukraine" in 2004.
- Roman Sadykov: Born in 1964 in Podolsk, he studied choreography and later served in the army's song and dance ensemble. He joined Lesopoval in May 1992.
- Victor Malakhov: Born in 1953 in Antratsit, he studied at a choreographic school and served in the Kiev Military District's song and dance ensemble. He has been a member of Lesopoval since 1992.
- Sergey Karchevsky: Born in 1965 in Kirov, he studied choreography and served in the army as a dancer. He joined Lesopoval in 2002.
- Alexander Pogrebinsky: Born in 1957 in Moscow, he studied classical guitar and bass guitar. He joined Lesopoval in 2005.
