Laurent Voulzy, a renowned French singer-songwriter, was born into a family with a strong musical background. His mother was a singer and dancer, and he grew up in the commune of Nogent-sur-Marne, where he first performed at the local youth center alongside bassist Claude le Peron.
Collaboration with Alain Souchon
In 1974, Voulzy met Alain Souchon, and their collaboration marked a significant turning point in his career. They co-wrote "J'ai dix ans," released by Souchon, and their partnership continued for many years to come.
"Rockollection" and Breakthrough
Voulzy's breakthrough came in 1977 with the release of "Rockollection," written by Souchon. This pop-medley featured snippets from iconic songs by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and other influential artists, solidifying Voulzy's unique musical style.
