Biography of Lewis Michael Arquette
Early Life and FamilyLewis Michael Arquette was an American film actor, screenwriter, and producer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Mildred Nesbitt (née Le May) and actor Cliff Arquette. His family roots can be traced back to explorer Meriwether Lewis. Lewis was destined to be part of the famous Arquette family, being born into a family of actors and later becoming the father of a whole acting ensemble - Patricia, Alexis, Rosanna, David, and Richmond Arquette. He was also stepfather to actress Courteney Cox and actor Thomas Jane, and was previously the father-in-law of actor Nicolas Cage.
Career and Personal Life
Lewis often appeared in movies alongside his children, especially his sons. For several years, Lewis managed The Second City theater in Chicago. In 1970, the Arquette family moved to Front Royal, Virginia. In 1997, Lewis's wife Brenda 'Mardi' Nowak passed away from breast cancer. Brenda was a Polish Jew, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor.
Later Years and Legacy
Lewis Arquette passed away in 2001 from acute heart failure. He was buried in Los Angeles, California. Throughout his acting career, Arquette appeared in 22 television series and 56 films.
