Biography of Li Zhaoxin
Li Zhaoxin was born in October 1940 in the Shandong province of China. He graduated from Beijing University and went on to work as a diplomat in several foreign embassies. From 1993 to 1995, he represented his country at the United Nations.
Experience as an Ambassador
In 1998 to 2001, Li Zhaoxin served as the ambassador of China to the United States. His current appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs is believed to reflect the increasing focus of Chinese diplomacy on the American direction. However, informed diplomatic sources note that Li's appointment does not indicate any shift in the emphasis of China's foreign policy.
Contributions to Russian-Chinese Relations
Li Zhaoxin is also well-known among Russian diplomats. For the past two years, he has headed the Russian-Chinese working group on counterterrorism. This highlights his extensive experience and involvement in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Russia and China.
