Li Housheng, a 52-year-old farmer from Ganzhou Village in Miluo, China, has defied the odds by building a functioning helicopter from scrap metal in his backyard.

Li's interest in mechanics stems from his passion for old, broken engines and scrap metal. Despite the constant teasing from his family and neighbors, he continued to collect discarded machinery on his property.
The Ambitious Project
Last year, Li embarked on a daring project: to build a helicopter-like aircraft. Skeptical friends and neighbors doubted his abilities, but he persisted.
The Helicopter's Construction
Li used whatever materials he could find, including pipes, steel plates, and a modified engine from an old agricultural motorcycle. The resulting structure resembled a helicopter, complete with a propeller.
The First Flight
On his first test flight, Li's helicopter rose 40 centimeters above the ground. While this may seem insignificant, it was a testament to Li's ingenuity and determination.
Not the First of Its Kind
Li is not the first to build a homemade aircraft. In 2007, Nigerian Aminu Abubakar constructed a helicopter that was capable of flying.
