Early Life and Acting Debut
Liam Hemsworth was born in Melbourne, Australia, on January 13, 1990. As the youngest of three sons to Craig and Leonie Hemsworth, he was inspired to pursue acting by his older brothers, Chris and Luke Hemsworth. In high school, Liam secured an agent and attended his first audition at the age of 16.

Television and Film Breakthrough
In 2007, Hemsworth landed minor roles in the television series "Home and Away" and "McLeod's Daughters." His breakout role came on July 8, 2007, when he joined the soap opera "Neighbours." As Josh Taylor, a paralyzed athlete, he became a regular cast member from 2007 to 2008. Liam's portrayal of Markus, a lead guitarist in the children's television show "The Elephant Princess," further cemented his acting prowess.
Success on the Big Screen
Hemsworth made his film debut with the British horror film "Triangle" and the television series "Satisfaction." In 2009, he had a cameo appearance in "Knowing" starring Nicholas Cage. The same year, he was cast as the antagonist against Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming action film "The Expendables," though his character was eventually cut.
The Marvel Franchise
Despite the setback, Liam's fortunes quickly turned when director Kenneth Branagh offered him the lead role in the planned 2011 adaptation of the popular Marvel comic "Thor." However, this opportunity too slipped through his fingers, as his older brother Chris eventually took the part.
'The Last Song' and 'Arabian Nights'
Undeterred, Hemsworth landed the role of Will Blakelee in the Disney drama "The Last Song," starring opposite Miley Cyrus. Their on-screen chemistry mirrored a real-life romance that began in May 2009. In March 2010, "Details" magazine recognized Liam as one of the most promising male actors of the next generation. He also secured lead roles in Chuck Russell's action film "Arabian Nights" and the drama "Northern Lights," which initially had been slated for Taylor Lautner.
Career Progression and Personal Life
In March 2010, Hemsworth relocated to the United States to advance his acting career. He returned to Australia that summer to settle matters with his high school girlfriend, Laura Griffin. Their relationship ended as Liam embarked on a new romance with Miley Cyrus.
