Biography of Libby Ryz
Early Life and InspirationLibby Ryz, a young British writer, was born in 1995 in Ringwood, Hampshire. When she was just 6 years old, her parents divorced, which deeply affected her. Living with her mother, Kathryn Loughnan, Libby decided to help other children who had experienced parental divorce. One day, while playing in the park with her mother and throwing a stick for their dog, Libby confessed that each time she threw the stick, it helped her release her worries and negative thoughts, making her feel peaceful and forget about the bad things. After returning home, the 9-year-old Libby compiled a list of things that helped her overcome anxiety and sadness.
First Book and International Success
This list grew over time, and at the age of 10, Libby Ryz wrote a 60-page book, which can be seen as a survival guide for children whose parents have divorced. With the help of her mother, Libby sent letters to several publishing houses, and eventually, Aultbea Publishing decided to publish her book. In December 2005, the book titled 'Help Hope and Happiness' was released, making Libby Ryz one of the youngest authors not only in the UK but also worldwide. The book was later translated into several languages, including Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Macanese, Thai, and Cantonese, reaching a global audience.
Simple Advice for Children
Libby's book consisted of simple advice for children on how to avoid getting depressed and survive their parents' divorce. For example, she recommended looking at oneself in the mirror for a long time every day and repeating a phrase like, "I am getting better and better every day!" Despite the perceived naivety and childlike nature of Libby's advice, many people found it reasonable and effective.
Continued Writing and Charity Work
At the age of 12, Libby published her second book, 'At Sixes and Sevens,' which focused on the difficulties children face when transitioning from primary to secondary school. In interviews, she admitted that she had genuine fears at that time, such as whether she would be able to make new friends and keep up with her studies.
Alongside her schoolwork and literary activities, Libby found time to participate in the charity organization 'Save the Children,' donating a portion of her earnings from each book she published. Despite viewing her second book as a source of income, she continued to prioritize charitable contributions with each new publication.

As a teenager, Libby took great joy in her growing popularity and proudly signed autographs while eagerly engaging with her readers. Even today, Libby Ryz continues to collaborate with several children's charitable organizations, emphasizing the importance of philanthropy in her career as a writer.
