Biography of Lilita Ozolina
Lilita Ozolina is a Soviet and Latvian actress of theater and cinema. She was born in Riga. Before the war, her mother, Albertina, worked as an assistant director at a German film studio, while her father, Arvid, was a test pilot. At the age of ten, Lilita Ozolina auditioned for the role of a shepherdess in the film "Echo", but she was not selected. Instead, eight years later, she was accepted into the People's Studio of the Actor at the Riga Film Studio, where she went for a competition.
Acting Career
Parallel to her studies, Lilita Ozolina started working at the Janis Rainis Art Theater in 1966. In 1969, she graduated from the Film Actor Studio, and in 1971, she completed the acting faculty of the Latvian Conservatory named after Jāzeps Vītols. Her first role in a film was the character Velta in the movie "When Rain and Wind Knock on the Window" (1967), directed by one of her studio teachers, Aloiz Brenč.
After her debut, she went on to work in other films, but it was her role as Marta in the film "The Long Road in the Dunes" (1980), directed by Aloiz Brenč, that brought her fame. Following her success, she received numerous offers for roles. She appeared in the musical "A Brief Guide to Love," the comedy "Santa Claus's Personal Life" (1982), the political detective film "Double Trap" (1985), and others.
Life After the Soviet Union
After the collapse of the USSR, there was a decline in work opportunities at the Riga Film Studio, but theater remained. In addition to her work at the Latvian National Theater, Lilita Ozolina performs at the Dailes Theater (formerly the Janis Rainis Art Academic Theater until 1989) and the Riga Russian Drama Theater. Lilita Ozolina currently resides in Riga. She has a daughter named Liliana Ozolina, who is the director of the television channel MTV Latvija.
