Early Life and Family

Lilli Krug was born on June 5, 2001, in Munich, Germany, into a family immersed in the film industry. Her father is producer Martin Krug, and her mother is actress Veronica Ferres, whose career spans Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Krug's parents officially divorced when she was 9, but their separation was announced in 2008. Since 2009, Ferres has been in a relationship with billionaire Carsten Maschmeyer, whom they married five years later. Krug grew up with Maschmeyer and considers him family, sharing a close bond with her stepfather.

Early Film Career

Krug discovered her passion for acting at a young age, and her first film appearance came in 2016. The young actress had a cameo role in the thriller "Salt and Fire," starring her mother, Veronica. Ferres also imparted valuable advice to her daughter, such as ensuring she was well-rested on set, paying attention to every detail, and finding joy in her performances. Despite her family connections, Krug aspires to establish her own name, free from the influence of her famous mother and stepfather.

Three years later, mother and daughter reunited on screen in the short film "Malo." The film premiered at the Manhattan Short Film Festival in 2019, where it became a finalist out of 1250 submissions from 70 countries, earning it a place in the Oscar race. While the German drama did not make it to the final nominations, Krug and Veronica were invited to the ceremony in February 2020. This was the young actress's first red carpet appearance, having kept her public presence to a minimum until finishing high school.

Higher Education and Hollywood Ascent

Krug opted to pursue higher education in Los Angeles, where she enrolled at a local university majoring in psychology. In the evenings, she attended acting school. As Krug explained in an interview, she relishes the opportunity to embody diverse characters, allowing her to broaden her own horizons. Despite being in a new country, Krug maintained her German habits, standing out among her American peers for her punctuality and meticulousness.

Krug's Hollywood ascent began in 2021. She first appeared in the thriller "He's Out There," produced by Ferres. On screen, Veronica and Lilli portrayed the secondary roles of a mother and daughter, alongside Casey Affleck, Sam Claflin, and Michelle Monaghan. Later, Krug landed a role in the sports drama "Swing" independently.

Personal Life

In her spare time, the actress enjoys outdoor sports and embraces risk-taking challenges. At 18, Krug climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, spending time in Africa to escape the stresses of school and work. She shared a photo of her summit on Instagram, expressing that it was a life-changing experience that pushed her boundaries, exposing her to unspoiled nature and unique individuals. Krug also teaches at a cycling school, participates in scuba diving, and aspires to go skydiving to overcome her fear of heights. She frequently travels to Munich to visit her parents, where she sells frozen yogurt during vacations. Thanks to her tall stature (175 cm), Krug occasionally models.

Liili Krug's Current Success

Krug's breakout lead role came in 2022, starring in the thriller "Flirting with the Devil" (alternatively titled "Shattered"). She plays opposite Cameron Monaghan as a millionaire who encounters a charming woman whose charming facade masks a sinister maniac. According to film critics, Krug's performance left a strong impression, while Cameron's acting fell short.
