Lindsay Pease: Mother of Transgender Son

Lindsay Pease, a mother of three from Canada, decided to update her tattoo featuring her children after her daughter, Ace, came out as transgender. The original tattoo depicted Ace as a young girl with pigtails and a pink dress. However, as Ace grew older, she increasingly felt discomfort with her assigned gender.

Ace's Coming Out

At the age of 15, Ace wrote a letter to her parents, expressing her true gender identity. She explained that she had always felt like a boy trapped in a female body. Lindsay and her husband, Steve, were fully supportive of their daughter's decision to live as a male.

Updating the Tattoo

Lindsay felt that the original tattoo with Ace in a pink dress was no longer representative of who her child had become. She decided to get it updated to reflect Ace's new identity and the joy she felt in living her true life.

The New Tattoo

The revised tattoo removed the pigtails and pink dress, replacing them with a blue t-shirt, black shorts, and a slingshot instead of a purple bow. Lindsay recalls that strangers would often question the accuracy of her tattoo when she was out with her children, as it showed one child clearly wearing a dress while she was accompanied by three boys.

Ace's Happiness

Since coming out and transitioning, Ace has found a newfound sense of happiness and confidence. Steve described the transformation as remarkable, noting that his son's smile was a constant.

Medical Options in Canada

In Canada, transgender individuals are legally permitted to undergo gender-affirming medical procedures beginning at age 16. It is unclear whether Ace plans to pursue full gender reassignment surgery.
