Lindsay Anderson: American Steeplechase Runner

Early Life

Lindsay Anderson was born on May 23, 1985, in Payson, Utah, USA. Growing up in a large family with five older brothers and an identical twin sister, Lindsay developed a passion for running by challenging the local boys to races.

High School Career

Anderson attended Morgan High School, where she became a five-time Utah State Champion in cross country. She also excelled in soccer and basketball. Despite her athletic achievements, she received only one scholarship offer, from the University of Utah.

College Career

After graduating high school in 2003, Anderson enrolled at the University of Utah. She graduated in 2007. In 2004, she placed fifth at the Big Sky Outdoors meet. In 2005, she achieved second place in the 10,000-meter race and third place in the 3000-meter race at the Big Sky meet.

Professional Career

In 2007, Anderson finished third at the USA Outdoors Championships. She also placed 10th at the World Cross Country Championships. This year marked a turning point in her career, and she became one of the top marathoners in the United States.

Olympic Debut

Anderson qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, competing in the 3000-meter steeplechase. This was her first appearance at the Olympics. Her coach is Paul Pilkington, the 1994 Los Angeles Marathon champion.
