Biography of LisaRaye
LisaRaye (LisaRaye McCoy-Misick) is an American actress and fashion designer, born on September 23, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents owned a hotel in Chicago and had hoped that she would help them manage the hotel and continue the family business after graduating from university. However, LisaRaye was unsure if she wanted to work in a hotel. Nevertheless, after finishing high school, she enrolled at Eastern Illinois University to study hotel management. During her time at university, McCoy started working as a model.
Modeling Career
McCoy's modeling career developed quite successfully, and she appeared on the covers of popular magazines such as 'Brides Magazine', 'Ebony', 'Being There', and 'After 5'. Additionally, LisaRaye also appeared in music videos for some well-known artists. She was afraid of disappointing her parents and worried that they would think she was avoiding her studies and didn't want to continue the family business. However, her parents were supportive of her choice, and she fully immersed herself in the modeling business.
Transition to Acting
After the death of her father, LisaRaye began contemplating her future. She returned to Chicago and started working at the family hotel. Shortly after, she decided to take acting lessons and prepare herself for a career in film. In 1995, LisaRaye made her television debut, playing a small role in the comedy series 'In the House'. The following year, she made her big screen debut, playing a cameo role in the action film 'Reasons' by Monty Ross.
Breakthrough Role
In 1998, LisaRaye landed the lead female role as Diamond in the comedy-drama 'The Players Club', directed by Ice Cube. Despite its modest budget of $5 million, the film, filled with intense events and real human passions, received positive reviews from critics. LisaRaye's performance in the film was also highly praised. After the successful release of the movie, she gained confidence and realized that Hollywood was the perfect place for her. She decided to permanently move to the sunny coast of Southern California.
Acting Career
After her move to Hollywood, LisaRaye's acting career quickly gained momentum. Since her start in Hollywood, she has appeared in more than 15 film and television projects. In 1999, she played a small but notable role in the comedy 'The Wood', alongside Taye Diggs, Richard T. Jones, and Sean Nelson. In 2001, she was cast in one of the leading roles in the romantic comedy 'All About You', directed by Christine Swanson. In 2005, LisaRaye starred in the comedy 'Beauty Shop', directed by Bille Woodruff. In the same year, the actress launched two fashion lines: 'Luxe & Romance', a line of women's lingerie showcased at New York Fashion Week, and 'Xraye', a line of women's denim clothing.
Personal Life
In 2006, LisaRaye married Michael Misick, the Prime Minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands and a member of the Progressive National Party. In April 2008, her husband was accused of sexually assaulting an American woman, allegedly occurring on the island of Providenciales. A criminal case was opened against Michael Misick, which was investigated by the FBI. In August 2008, Michael Misick announced to the press that he and LisaRaye had officially filed for divorce.

Currently, LisaRaye continues to act in films, with one of her recent projects being the drama film 'Contradictions of the Heart' by Walter Allen Bennett Jr., where she portrayed the character Kiki.
