Biography of Michael Dorn
Michael Dorn, an American actor, is best known for his role as the Klingon Worf in the 'Star Trek' universe, including the TV series 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine', as well as the films 'Star Trek: First Contact', 'Star Trek: Insurrection', and 'Star Trek: Nemesis'. He was born on December 9, 1952, in Luling, Texas, USA, to parents Ellie Lee and Fentress Dorn Jr., and grew up in Pasadena, California. Dorn attended Pasadena City College, where he studied telecommunications and radio communication, before embarking on his music career as a singer in various rock bands, traveling between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Early Acting Career
Dorn made his first appearance as a guest actor in the television show 'W.E.B.' in 1978. Impressed by his work, a producer introduced Dorn to an agent who then connected him with acting coach Charles Conrad. Dorn spent six months studying acting and landed his first regular role as Officer Turner in the TV series 'CHiPs'. He also had a minor role as a bodyguard in the well-known boxing film 'Rocky', starring Sylvester Stallone.

Iconic Role as Worf
Dorn's most famous role to date is Worf, the first officer on the Klingon starship 'Rotarran', in the TV series 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'. Prior to auditioning for the role, Dorn made an effort to embody the stoic and fierce Klingon warrior by not smiling, speaking, or even sitting, standing apart from other auditioning candidates in a corner like an unwavering warrior. This stereotypical behavior of the alien humanoid civilization worked in his favor. When Dorn was called in, he entered the room, furrowed his brow, shook the interviewer's hand sharply, read a snippet of the role, and, dryly thanking the director, left the casting. In total, Dorn appeared in 175 episodes of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', missing only three episodes, and in 100 episodes of the series 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine', skipping only four episodes. With his participation in the TV series and films of the 'Star Trek' franchise, Dorn holds the record, surpassing actors Colm Meaney and Majel Barrett, having appeared in a total of 280 'space units' of 'Star Trek'.

Other Acting Work
In addition to the 'Star Trek' universe, Dorn has appeared in other films such as 'The Santa Clause 2'. He has also provided voice acting for characters in animated series such as 'I Am Weasel', 'Gargoyles', 'Superman', and 'Danny Phantom', among many others. In the 1990s, he made guest appearances in several episodes of the TV series 'Dinosaurs' and 'The Outer Limits'. Expanding his voice acting work, Dorn participated in the development of the computer game 'Emperor: Battle for Dune' based on Frank Herbert's novels, as well as 'Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers', 'Fallout 2', and 'StarCraft'. Dorn also lent his voice as the narrator in the game 'Vikings, Strategy of Ultimate Conquest!' in 1996, and returned to voice Kalibak in the animated series 'Justice League'.
Other Interests
Dorn is a fan of the animated series 'South Park' and has a great passion for flying. He owns several aircraft, including a T-33 Shooting Star training aircraft and an F-86 Sabre American fighter. Dorn often refers to his T-33 aircraft as his 'starship'. He is a member of several aviation organizations, including the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), and serves on the advisory board of the Air Force Heritage Foundation.
