Lloyd Eisler: A Canadian Figure Skating Legend
Early CareerLloyd Eisler is a renowned Canadian figure skater who excelled in the sport of pair skating. He partnered with Lori Bayer, winning the silver medal at the 1981 World Junior Championships. Eisler continued his international rise, skating with Katerina Matusek from 1982 to 1986.
Partnership with Isabelle Brasseur
In 1986, Eisler teamed up with Isabelle Brasseur, forming one of Canada's most successful figure skating pairs. Together, they claimed two Olympic bronze medals (Albertville 1992 and Lillehammer 1994), the 1993 World Championship title, and five Canadian championships.
Signature Support
Eisler was known for his athleticism and exceptional support work. He became famous for executing a one-arm lift support, earning him the nickname "Jack." However, despite their strong support skills, Brasseur and Eisler never mastered the challenging triple jump.
Post-Skating Career
After retiring from competitive skating, Eisler and Brasseur co-authored two books: "Brasseur & Eisler: To Catch a Dream" and "Brasseur & Eisler: The Professional Years." They also established B.B.E. Productions Inc. in 1992, organizing professional figure skating shows to raise funds for children's charities.
Personal Life
In 2006, Eisler participated in the reality show "Skating with Celebrities" with American actress Kristy Swanson. They subsequently became a couple, and in 2007, they welcomed their son, Magnus Hart Swanson Eisler. Eisler and Swanson married in 2009.
