Biography of Lois Gray Hall

Lois Gray Hall was born on August 22, 1926, in the small town of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Her parents were Lois Grace Lambert, a teacher, and Ralph Stuart Hall, a businessman and inventor. She moved to California with her family and worked as a stage manager, set designer, and even a chief electrician at a theater before receiving a scholarship to the Pasadena Playhouse. It was during her studies that Lois realized she wanted to be an actress.

Early Career

In 1948, Lois made her debut on the big screen in a tiny, uncredited role. Over the next three years, she appeared in more than twenty films, mostly playing roles such as Young Mother, Stewardess, and Secretary. However, Lois found more notable roles on television, where she appeared in popular series such as "Studio One," "The Lone Ranger," "Adventures of Superman," "Little House on the Prairie," and "Star Trek."

Family Life

Lois married Maurice Willows in 1953 and soon after the birth of their first daughter, Debra, they moved to the desert and then to Hawaii, where they lived for seven years and their second daughter, Kimberly, was born. They later returned to their home in Beverly Hills, where their third daughter, Christina, was born. In 1957, Lois took a long hiatus from her career to focus on her family.

Later Career and Community Involvement

Lois returned to the screen in 1972, after a fifteen-year break, and continued to make appearances in television shows and films until the end of her life. She also became an active member of the Baha'i Faith and served as the secretary of the Los Angeles spiritual assembly. Lois dedicated her time to interfaith dialogue, organizing multicultural events, and providing extracurricular activities for at-risk youth. She and Maurice held weekly introductory meetings at their home, where they shared their knowledge of the Baha'i Faith.

Later Years and Legacy

In her later years, Lois Hall was frequently invited to guest star in popular television series, such as "The Unit," "Lost," "Sons & Daughters," and "Nip/Tuck." She enjoyed attending various film festivals across the country, reconnecting with old friends, and making new acquaintances. Lois Hall passed away on December 21, 2006, at the age of 80, from a heart attack. She was buried next to her husband in Inglewood Park Cemetery.
