Brune made his film debut in 1933. Within a few years, he emerged as one of Germany's leading film composers. His breakthrough came with the 1937 film "Habanera," featuring the iconic song "Der Wind hat mir ein Lied erzählt," which became a signature tune for Zarah Leander. Brune's success continued with the 1942 film "Romanze in Moll."

Personal Controversy
Brune's personal life became a subject of public attention in 1962 when his ex-wife, Vera Brune (1910-2001), was arrested and sentenced to life in prison for murdering her lover. The incident cast a shadow over Brune's reputation and overshadowed his later work.
