Early Life and EducationLuis Gonda was born in 1948 in Venezuela to Hungarian immigrant parents who had survived the Holocaust and left their homeland in 1947. In 1963, the Gonda family moved to California, United States during a period of construction boom. It was there that Luis pursued higher education and graduated from the University of Los Angeles, earning an honorary bachelor's degree in science and art.

In 1983, Luis Gonda, along with his father and friend Stephen Udvar-Hazy, established a small company called International Lease Finance Corporation, which focused on leasing airplanes. Little did they know that the organization would soon become one of the largest aircraft lessors in the world. In 1990, the company was sold to American Insurance Group, a major enterprise. Presently, Luis Gonda serves as the executive director of the International Lease Finance Corporation.
