Biography of Liu Xiaojun

Liu Xiaojun, born in 1984 in Xianjiang Province, Hubei, is a Chinese weightlifter who has achieved remarkable success in the sport.

Early Life and Career

In 1998, Liu Xiaojun enrolled in the Xianjiang Sports School, where he began his journey in weightlifting. With his dedication and hard work, he quickly rose through the ranks and joined the Tianjin national weightlifting team in 2002.

World Champion and Record Breaker

Liu Xiaojun's breakthrough came in 2009 at the World Championships in Goyang, South Korea. He won the gold medal and set a world record in the snatch, lifting an impressive 174 kg. Additionally, he set a record in the total of snatch and clean and jerk with 378 kg.

Although Liu Xiaojun won a silver medal in the following World Championships in 2010, he reclaimed his title as world champion in 2011.

Olympic Success and Further Records

The pinnacle of Liu Xiaojun's career came at the 2012 Olympics in London, where he won a gold medal. Not only did he secure the top spot on the podium, but he also shattered world records in both the snatch and the total weight lifted. Liu lifted an astonishing 175 kg in the snatch and achieved a total of 379 kg in the competition.

Continuing his dominance in the sport, Liu Xiaojun once again set new records at the 2013 World Championships in Wroclaw. He lifted 176 kg in the snatch and reached a total of 380 kg, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest weightlifters of his time.

Rio Olympics Record

Liu Xiaojun continued to push the boundaries of the sport, setting a new record in the snatch at the Rio Olympics in 2016. He lifted an incredible 177 kg, highlighting his exceptional strength and technique.
