Early Life and Education
Lyubomyr Kobylyuk, a Ukrainian filmmaker and music video director, was born on September 17, 1980, in the village of Verkhovyna. He completed his primary education at Verkhovyna High School before graduating from the history department of Chernivtsi University as a historian-archaeologist.
International Experience and Filmmaking
During his second year at university, Kobylyuk took a break and traveled to France and Germany. It was in Germany that he began writing his first scripts for music and commercial videos. Upon returning to Ukraine, he received an offer from Oleksiy Khoroshko to direct the first Ukrainian thriller, "The Mine," which was released in 2006.
Awards and Recognition
In 2007, "The Mine" received three specialized "25 Kadr" awards at the 4th Kyiv International Film Forum "Ukraine-2007": Best Slogan, Best Trailer, and Best Poster. The film's distributor, "Arthouse Traffic," also won the award for "Development of Non-Commercial Cinema."
Kobylyuk's short film "20 Dollars" won him the diploma for Best Direction at the "Mobile Cinema from Djuice" festival in 2007. In 2008, he was recognized as the best debut director of television commercials at the Russian advertising festival "25 Kadr" for his commercial for "Flint" crackers featuring Russian rapper Serega.
