Early Career and Success with Slovan

Lubomir Visnovsky is a professional Slovak hockey player who currently plays for the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL and for the Slovak national team. He was born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia, and began his hockey career with the local club Slovan Bratislava. He made his debut for Slovan's main team at the start of the 1994/95 season, and quickly became a regular starter. During his six years with the team, he helped Slovan win the Slovak Extraliga twice, in 1998 and 2000.

NHL Draft and Early Success

In 2000, Visnovsky was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL Entry Draft. Unlike many European players who are sent to minor league affiliates after being drafted, Visnovsky immediately made an impact in the NHL, playing a full season for the Kings and recording 39 points in the regular season. He was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team for his efforts.

Return to Slovan and Record-Breaking Season

During the NHL lockout in 2004-05, Visnovsky returned to Slovan, signing a one-year contract. He led the team to another Slovak championship and was named the league's MVP. After the lockout, Visnovsky returned to the Kings and set a personal record for points in the 2005/06 regular season, with 67 points (17 goals, 50 assists). The following season, he was named to the Western Conference team for the NHL All-Star Game.

Move to Edmonton and Anaheim

In the summer of 2008, Visnovsky was traded to the Edmonton Oilers for forward Jarret Stoll and defenseman Matt Greene. However, he only played for the Oilers for a short time before being traded again, this time to the Anaheim Ducks for Ryan Whitney and a draft pick in March 2010.

Milestone and National Team Success

On January 1, 2011, Visnovsky scored his 100th NHL goal against the Philadelphia Flyers. He is one of the Slovak national team's all-time leaders in games played and tournaments participated in. He has represented Slovakia in four Olympic Games and nine World Championships, and has twice helped the team win medals (gold in 2002, silver in 2000, and bronze in 2003).
