Biography of Lucas Rincon
Lucas Rincon was born on February 1, 1950 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He graduated from the Military Academy of the Venezuelan Army, specializing in artillery, in 1972. Throughout his career, Rincon acquired professional skills not only in Venezuela but also in the United States.
Service in the Venezuelan Army
Rincon served in various command and administrative positions in the Venezuelan Army. He started as a regiment commander and then went on to hold positions such as Chief of the Army's General Staff, Chief of the Defense Ministry's Office, and Chief of the Military Secretariat under the President. He eventually became the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Justice
In the midst of the ongoing fierce struggle between the government and the opposition, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez personally appointed Lucas Rincon, a retired general who was loyal to him, as the Minister of Internal Affairs and Justice on January 19.
