Lucia Myslivečková: Ice Dancer with Czech and Slovak Roots
Lucia Myslivečková, a former Czech and now Slovak ice dancer, has forged a successful partnership with Lukáš Csölley since 2016. As a team, they have claimed two Slovak national championships (2017 and 2018).
Early Beginnings with Matej Novák
Myslivečková's career took off in 2005 when she teamed up with Matej Novák. Coached by two-time Soviet ice dancing champions Natalia Karamysheva and Rostislav Sinitsyn, the duo achieved remarkable success. In the 2010/2011 season, they triumphed at the Golden Spin of Zagreb and the Czech national championships. This propelled them to their debut European championships, where they reached the final and finished 10th.
Brief Partnership with Neil Brown
Despite their accomplishments with Novák, the partnership ended after the season. After an extensive search, Myslivečková joined forces with French skater Neil Brown. Representing the Czech Republic, the duo faced injuries and their partnership dissolved prematurely.
Return to Competition for Slovakia
In 2016, Myslivečková decided to resume her ice dancing career after a three-year hiatus. She chose to compete for Slovakia this time, partnering with Csölley, who had parted ways with his previous partner.
Success with Lukáš Csölley
The pair made their debut at the Nepela Memorial in Bratislava, finishing eighth and meeting the technical minimum for the European championships. They continued to impress, placing eighth at the Nice Cup and claiming the Volvo Cup in Riga. At the Warsaw Cup, they secured third place, allowing Myslivečková to surpass her previous free dance record.
In December, at the Four Nations Championships in Katowice, Myslivečková and Csölley clinched the Slovak national title. They entered the European championships as Slovak representatives and advanced to the final, ultimately finishing in the top 20. Notably, Myslivečková improved her personal bests on her former home turf.
Their Olympic season began in Bergamo at the Lombardia Trophy, where they ranked in the top half of the standings. They later competed at the Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, securing a berth for Slovakia at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Myslivečková continued to break her own records in the process.
