Early Career and Success with Axel Rauschenbach
Manuela "Mandy" Wötzel, a German figure skater who competed in the pairs discipline, first partnered with Axel Rauschenbach. Together, they achieved multiple GDR and German national championships. Their greatest success came at the 1989 European Championships, where they claimed the silver medal.
Accident and Partnership with Ingo Steuer
In 1992, Mandy's partnership with Rauschenbach ended after a tragic training accident that left her in a coma. Subsequently, coach Monika Scheibe paired her with Ingo Steuer.
Partnership with Ingo Steuer and Major Achievements
With Steuer, Mandy's career reached its peak. They captured the gold medal at the 1995 European Championships, the world title in 1997, and the bronze medal at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. After achieving these accomplishments, they retired from competitive skating in 1998.
Post-Competitive Career
In the fall of 2006, Mandy participated in the RTL television show "Dancing on Ice" alongside boxer Sven Ottke. In 2007, she married and relocated to Australia with her husband. In 2008, she began her coaching career at the "Olympic Ice Rink."
