Biography of Luis Galvan
Luis Adolfo Galvan was a former Argentine football player and central defender. He was born into a farmer's family and had two passions from an early age - football and education. Galvan began his professional career at the club "Talleres" in Cordoba in 1970. He spent most of his career at this club. In 1974, Luis married Maria Cristina Bustamante.
Despite the capabilities of "Talleres", Galvan was never able to become the champion of Argentina, but some of the team's best achievements are associated with his name. In 1977, "Talleres" finished in second place in the Nacional championship, and in 1976 and 1978, the team was just one step away from the podium. In addition, in 1980, Galvan helped his team win the bronze medals at the Metropolitan tournament.
In 1975, Galvan made his debut for the Argentine national team. Three years later, he was already a key player in the victorious World Cup for Argentina, including playing in the final match against the Netherlands (3-1). After the unsuccessful World Cup in 1982, Galvan retired from international football.
In 1982, Luis left Talleres and joined the team "Loma Negra", which he helped qualify for the top league in the Nacional 1983 tournament. After that, he played for Talleres' main rival, "Belgrano" club in Cordoba, during the season. In 1986, Galvan played for Bolivia's most successful club, "Bolivar". At that time, Bolivar was the champion of the country, but they failed to defend their title in 1986. Galvan returned to his hometown club, Talleres, where he spent his final season in professional football.
In 1988, Galvan played for the amateur team of his hometown, "Sportivo Fernandez", and in 1989, he played for another amateur club, "Talleres" (Jesus Maria), after which he finally retired from football at the age of 41.
Luis Galvan is recognized as the greatest defender in the history of "Talleres".
