Luis Tejada: Panamanian Football Star

Luis Tejada is a Panamanian footballer who plays as a striker for Juan Aurich and the Panama national team.

Club Career

Tejada began his career in the youth academy of Tauro FC, making his debut in 2001 and quickly becoming a regular starter. After a season with Plaza Amador, he moved to Colombia, playing for Deportes Tolima and Envigado before signing with Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates in 2005 after a successful Gold Cup performance. Despite a disappointing stint with Al-Ain, Tejada returned to Tauro and then Plaza Amador, where he earned the nickname "El Gordo" (The Fat Boy) due to his weight issues.

In 2006, Tejada joined Colombian club Once Caldas but was soon released for disciplinary reasons. He then moved to Real Salt Lake in the United States, but after playing only a few minutes in five matches, he was deemed surplus to requirements by coach Jason Kreis and returned to Tauro.

Success in Colombia

Tejada signed with América de Cali in 2007 and quickly became a key player, scoring 12 goals in his second season and leading the team to the championship final. His performances attracted the attention of River Plate in Argentina, but he ultimately joined Millonarios in 2008.

Move to Peru

After struggling at Millonarios, Tejada moved to Juan Aurich in Peru, where he made his debut in 2010 and quickly established himself as the team's leading scorer. In 2011, he won the Peruvian championship and was named the tournament's top scorer.

Mexican Adventure

Tejada moved to Mexican club Toluca in 2012, scoring on his debut and helping the team win. He continued to impress during his time in Mexico, scoring in the Copa Libertadores in 2013.

International Career

Tejada made his international debut for Panama in 2001 and scored his first goal for the national team in 2003. He was part of the team that won the Gold Cup in 2005 and was named the tournament's MVP. He also represented Panama in the 2009, 2011, and 2015 Gold Cups, as well as the 2016 Copa América.
