Early Racing Career
Born in Brazil, the future Formula 1 racer made his mark in the country's Formula 3 series, capturing the national championship twice in the touring car class. In 1969, he ventured into British Formula Ford before returning to his home turf the following year.
Formula 1 Debut
In 1972, he made his Formula 1 debut at the inaugural non-championship Brazilian Grand Prix, finishing sixth and last among the classified drivers, two laps down on the victor. The following year, he once again competed in the Brazilian Grand Prix, this time as part of the championship. He finished 12th, four laps behind the race winner.
