Lawrence Kingston: A Ghanaian Football Dynamo
Early Career in Ghana and LibyaLawrence "Larry" Kingston, a Ghanaian midfielder, began his professional career at the age of 16 with Great Olympics in his home country. A brief stint at Libyan club Al-Ittihad followed before Kingston returned to Ghana in 2001 to join Hearts of Oak, one of the country's top clubs.
Israeli Sojourn
Two years later, Kingston moved to Israel, where he played for Maccabi Nazareth and Hapoel Tel Aviv until 2004.
Success in Russia
Kingston's next destination was Russia, where he joined Krylia Sovetov Samara. With his contributions, the club earned bronze medals in the Russian Premier League and reached the final of the Russian Cup, eventually losing to Terek Grozny.
Grozny and Moscow
Kingston moved to Terek Grozny in the summer of 2005, but the team was relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season. Kingston then went on loan to Lokomotiv Moscow for the 2006 season. However, he was suspended for six matches after intentionally injuring Dynamo defender Leandro Fernández.
Scottish Adventure
With Terek unable to return to the Premier League in 2007, Kingston left the club. Despite interest from Bolton, Newcastle, and Fulham, he opted to join Scottish side Hearts, initially on loan before signing a three-year permanent contract.
Later Career
On August 31, 2010, Kingston signed with Dutch club Vitesse as a free agent. He then moved to Hapoel Be'er Sheva in Israel in July 2011.
Personal Life
Larry Kingston's older brother, Richard Kingston, was the first-choice goalkeeper for the Ghanaian national team in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
