Biography of Lidia Yermoshina

Early Life and Education

Lidia Yermoshina was born into a military family. She graduated from the law faculty of Kaliningrad State University in 1975.

Legal Career

Yermoshina began her career as a legal advisor for various trading and industrial enterprises in Kaliningrad and Bobruisk from 1975 to 1987. She then served as an assistant prosecutor in Kaliningrad's Oktyabrsky district (1987-1988) and as chairman of the legal department of the Bobruisk City Executive Committee (1988-1996).

Central Election Commission

On December 6, 1996, Yermoshina was appointed Chairman of the Central Election Commission, replacing her predecessor, Viktor Gonchar, who disappeared without a trace in 1999. She has held this position ever since.

Personal Life

Yermoshina is divorced and has a son named Alexei, who worked as a lawyer. In June 2017, Belarusian non-state media reported the death of Alexei Yermoshin at the age of 40.
