Biography of Lynne Ramsay
Lynne Ramsay is a Scottish director, screenwriter, producer, and writer. She is best known for her films "Ratcatcher," "Morvern Callar," and "We Need to Talk about Kevin."

Early Life and Education
Lynne Ramsay was born in Glasgow, Scotland. She received her education at the UK's National Film and Television School and Napier College in Edinburgh. In Edinburgh, Ramsay studied photography and filmmaking.

Career
Ramsay began her career with short films, showcasing her talent for creating visually stunning and concise films. Her debut feature film, "Ratcatcher," was released in 1999 and received warm reviews from critics and audiences. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and earned Ramsay the Guardian New Director Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, among other accolades.

In 2002, Ramsay released "Morvern Callar," based on the novel by Alan Warner. The film received praise for its sound design, featuring music from renowned artists such as Stereolab, Aphex Twin, Velvet Underground, and Nancy Sinatra. Ramsay adapted the novel herself for the screenplay.
Ramsay was initially set to direct the film adaptation of Alice Sebold's novel "The Lovely Bones" but left the project in 2004. Her next film, "We Need to Talk about Kevin," based on Lionel Shriver's novel, was released in 2011. The film explored the difficulties of motherhood and the challenges faced by mothers with difficult children. Despite working with a limited budget, Ramsay was able to create a powerful film that earned her numerous awards, including the Best Director Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival.
Currently, Ramsay is working on a contemporary adaptation of Herman Melville's classic novel "Moby Dick." Her interpretation of the story will take place in the confined space of a whaling ship, reminiscent of the claustrophobic atmosphere in the film "Das Boot."
Personal Life
In March 2002, Lynne Ramsay married English actor Rory Kinnear. They continue to live in a marital union to this day.
