Early Life and Career
Mabel Albertson was born in Massachusetts to Russian immigrant parents. She was the sister of actor Jack Albertson and the aunt of actress Cloris Leachman. Albertson began her acting career in theater before transitioning to film and television.
Television Success
Albertson rose to fame for her role as Phyllis Stephens in the sitcom "Bewitched." She appeared in over 100 episodes of the show, playing a sarcastic witch who is married to a mortal man.
Film Roles
Albertson also starred in several notable films, including "Barefoot in the Park" (1967) and "What's Up, Doc?" (1972). In "What's Up, Doc?", she played Mrs. Van Hoskins, a wealthy socialite who is the victim of a diamond heist.
Later Career and Legacy
Albertson continued to act throughout her career, appearing in guest roles on television shows and small parts in films. She developed Alzheimer's disease in her later years and passed away at the age of 81. Her ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean.
