Early Life

Maggie Grace is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford in the television series "Lost" and Kim in the film "Taken." She was born in the small town of Worthington, Ohio. She is the second of three children to Valinn and Rick Denig, who were involved in the family jewelry business. Growing up, her family lived in a 200-year-old saltbox house, the first of its kind in central Ohio.

Maggie attended Worthington Christian School until the ninth grade and then transferred to Thomas Worthington High School, where she began acting in school plays and amateur theater. Her parents divorced when she was 16, and she dropped out of school to move with her mother to Los Angeles, while her younger brother and sister, Ian and Marissa, stayed with their father. In Los Angeles, Maggie and her mother faced financial constraints, living in temporary housing and only having the bare necessities.

Maggie's acting career took off when she secured an agent within a week of arriving in Los Angeles and enrolled in acting classes. She landed her first role in 2001 in the web series "Rachel's Room," which was executive produced by the creator of the TV series "Dawson's Creek." Her next role came in 2002 in a series that was canceled before its first episode aired.

Maggie gained recognition for her role in the 2002 made-for-television movie "Murder in Greenwich," based on the true story of the murder of Martha Moxley. She received a nomination for the Young Actor Award for her performance. She continued to appear in supporting roles in various TV series and had cameo roles in several films.

In the mid-2004, Maggie's agent brought her the script for the pilot episode of "Lost," and she landed the role of Shannon Rutherford after a successful audition. In 2005, she was nominated for the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Breakout Performance - Female, but lost to Eva Longoria in "Desperate Housewives." During the filming of the first season of "Lost," Maggie lived in Hawaii and also signed a contract to appear in "The Fog," a horror film remake starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Personal Life

On May 28, 2017, Maggie married entrepreneur Brent Bushnell, whom she had been dating for a year. On March 20, 2020, it was announced that the couple was expecting their first child in the summer. In October 2020, they welcomed a son together.
