Biography of Manana Japaridze

Manana Japaridze, an Azerbaijani pop singer of Georgian origin, was born on December 28, 1980, in Tbilisi. From childhood, she was passionate about music and started performing as a soloist in children's ensembles "Toli" and "Chiora" at the age of five. She graduated from the vocal class of the Gymnasium of Arts in Tbilisi and the Tbilisi branch of the German Academy of Modern Art, Jazz, and Show Business.

Early Successes

In 1996, Japaridze won the "Grand Prix" at the International Festival of Young Performers "Crystal Fir" held in Borjomi, Georgia. Since the end of 1998, she has been living and working in Azerbaijan with her mother, representing Azerbaijan at international music festivals and competitions. Her first performance took place at the "Royal Garden" club, and her first songs in Azerbaijani were "La??n" and "Yuxuma g?l". In 1999, Japaridze won the "Grand Prix" at the "Asia Da?ysy" (Voice of Asia) International Festival in Almaty, Kazakhstan. That same year, she became the winner of the "Slavianski Bazaar" festival in Kiev, Ukraine. Japaridze is also the laureate of the international festival "Universtalent-2000" in Prague and the recipient of the "Grand Prix" at the "Golden Voice of Asia" competition held in Shanghai in 2000. She released her debut album "S?n? verdim ?r?yimi" in the same year and had her first solo concert at the Heydar Aliyev Palace.

International Recognition

In 2001, Japaridze won the television music competition "Shire Krug" in Moscow. She has recorded six solo albums, five in Azerbaijani and one in English. She has performed solo programs in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and various European countries. Japaridze is a laureate of numerous music awards in Azerbaijan and collaborates with renowned Azerbaijani composers such as Eldar Mansurov, Vagif Gerayzade, Alhanly, Naila Mirmamedli, Isa Melikov, and others. She also writes and composes her own music.

Personal Life

On January 8, 2008, Japaridze married Georgi Gabelava. On November 10, 2008, she gave birth to a daughter named Elizabeti. Shortly before the birth of her daughter, she acquired Azerbaijani citizenship. After a short break, in winter 2009, Japaridze returned to the music scene to record new songs and perform. She released two new songs - "D?li e?qim" and "??h?rim". In early July 2009, her long-awaited music album "B?xt ulduzum" was released in Azerbaijan, which was produced at the "Monolit" studio in Moscow. On September 18, 2009, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan awarded Japaridze the title of Honored Artist of Azerbaijan. She has been granted honorary citizenship of Tbilisi. Japaridze is fluent in Georgian, Azerbaijani, English, and Russian.
