Manuel Charr, also known as the 'Diamond Boy,' is a German professional boxer of Syrian descent who competes in the heavyweight division. He was born Mahmoud Omeirat Charr on October 10, 1984, in Beirut, Lebanon, to a Syrian family. Charr began his journey in combat sports by practicing Muay Thai at the age of seventeen. Within two years, he became the youngest German champion in Muay Thai. In 2005, at the age of nineteen, he won the German Championship and the European Championship in Thai boxing.

Due to his impressive record in Thai boxing in Thailand, Charr, at the age of twenty, received an invitation to the training camp for professional boxers at the renowned Max Schmeling Gym in Berlin. It was here that his professional boxing career began under the guidance of the well-known German boxing coach Ulli Wegner. From 2005 to 2012, Charr participated in twenty-two fights as a professional boxer and only lost one of them.

Charr was selected as a candidate to fight Vitali Klitschko, the WBC super heavyweight champion, on September 8-9, 2012, in Moscow, Russia. The German boxer was aiming to win the WBC heavyweight championship title. In the first round, Charr went into a defensive mode, which the Ukrainian boxer managed to break through several times. Charr attempted to land his powerful left hooks, but they were unsuccessful. In the second round, Charr continued with his defensive strategy but also started putting pressure on Klitschko. However, Klitschko caught Charr off guard and delivered several head blows, ultimately knocking him to the canvas. After the third round, Charr became an easier target for Klitschko, who consistently launched his attacks. Charr suffered a cut under his eye, which was bleeding, but he was determined not to give up. However, after the referee called for a doctor to examine the cut, the decision was made to stop the fight. This resulted in Charr's defeat by technical knockout. Initially, Charr reacted aggressively to the referee's decision, but after a few minutes, he had to accept it.

On February 22, 2013, Charr will face Yakup Saglam in Galați, Romania, in a 12-round fight to defend his WBC silver international title for the second time. It is known that Charr spent ten months in prison for being involved in a fight. According to his account, he attempted to defuse a conflict situation when fifteen angry individuals were about to attack each other. However, someone from the crowd insulted Charr's mother and sisters, which led the offended boxer to inflict several knife strikes on the offender. Fortunately, the injuries were not fatal. Charr expressed remorse for his actions, apologized to the injured person, and was released from prison early. While in prison, he was a model inmate, training other prisoners.
