Manuela Di Centa: Italian Sportsman, Politician, and Broadcaster

Manuela Di Centa is an Italian sportsman, two-time Olympic champion, politician, broadcaster, and advocate for international Olympic movement. She was a member of the Italian women's national cross-country skiing team from 1980 to 1998, participating in five Winter Olympics.

Achievements in Sports

During her career, Manuela Di Centa won two gold, two silver, and three bronze Olympic medals. She also earned seven medals at the World Championships, including three silver and four bronze, and 22 medals at national championships. In the seasons of 1993/1994 and 1995/1996, she won three silver and four bronze medals in the World Cup.

Roles in Olympic Committees

Manuela Di Centa has been actively involved in the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) since 1996. She served as a member of the Athletes' Commission from 1996 to 2002 and became a member of the CONI Executive Committee in 2000. From 2005 to 2006, she held the position of First Vice President of CONI.

She has also been a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1999. In 1999, she joined the "IOC-2000" Commission, and in 2001, she became a member of the IOC Commission for Radio and Television.

Broadcasting Career

Since 1999, Manuela Di Centa has worked for the RAI television network in Italy. She hosted the morning program "Cominciamo bene" on Rai Tre. In 2000, she transitioned to Rai Uno and became the host of "Bianca Linea," a program dedicated to mountains and mountaineering.

Political Career

Aside from her sports and broadcasting achievements, Manuela Di Centa has also pursued a political career. She served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies in the Italian Parliament for the XV (April 28, 2006, to April 28, 2008) and XVI (from April 29, 2008) legislatures. From June 6, 2006, to April 28, 2008, she acted as the Secretary of the X Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, focusing on labor, trade, and tourism. Since May 21, 2008, she has been a member of the VII Commission, which is responsible for culture, science, and education.
