Early Career
Bartosz Michał Wasilewski began his football journey in Poland, showcasing his defensive prowess for clubs such as Hutnik, Śląsk, and Wisła Płock. In 2005, he joined Amica Wronki, and after its merger with Lech Poznań, he found himself playing for the latter.
Transfer to Anderlecht
In January 2007, Wasilewski embarked on a new chapter in his career by signing with Belgian giants Anderlecht. Despite being a defender, he possessed a knack for attacking and scoring, capitalizing on set pieces and corners.
Injury and Recovery
Tragedy struck on August 30, 2009, when a collision with Standard Liège's Axel Witsel resulted in a devastating open leg fracture for Wasilewski. The incident left him with broken tibia and fibula bones. Witsel was promptly sent off and received an eight-match suspension. It took nearly nine months before Wasilewski could return to the pitch, making his comeback on May 8, 2010.
