Biography of Marcos Martinez
Marcos Martinez is a Spanish racing driver who has achieved success in various motorsport championships. He began his career in karting competitions from 1998 to 2002 before transitioning to the Spanish Formula Junior. Martinez had mixed results during his three years in the series before moving up to the Spanish Formula 3 in 2005, racing for Racing Engineering and achieving a second-place finish in the B class.
In 2006, Martinez moved up to the A class and secured a victory in Cheste, Valencia. He also participated in three races in the World Series by Renault, with his best results being a fourth-place start and a second-place finish. In 2007, he joined the Novoteam for the Spanish Formula 3 and later switched to Tec-Auto to improve his performance.
Martinez returned to the World Series by Renault in 2008, racing for Pons Racing alongside his compatriot Maximo Cortes. He remained with the team in 2009. He started his season with two victories at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelo and secured his third consecutive win in Spa.
In 2007, Martinez also made appearances in the GP2 series, driving for Racing Engineering in the later stages of the season as a replacement for Ernesto Viso. However, he was unable to participate in both races of his first event in Hungary due to qualifying issues, where his lap time exceeded 107% of the pole position time.
