Hoelzer is a professional swimmer specializing in backstroke and medley relay. She represented the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In 2004, she placed fifth in the 200-meter backstroke at the Athens Olympics. In 2005, she won a silver medal at the World Championships.
