Biography of Margarita Drobiazko
Margarita Drobiazko was born on December 21, 1971, in Moscow. She is a Lithuanian figure skater of Russian origin. Margarita began practicing figure skating at the age of 6, and her first ice dancing partner was Oleg Granionov. However, the majority of her career was spent skating with Povilas Vanagas.
Achievements
During their time as competitive skaters, Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas achieved several notable accomplishments. They won:
- 3rd place at the 2000 World Championships
- 2 bronze medals at the European Championships (2000, 2006)
- 4 bronze medals at the Grand Prix Finals (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002)
Additionally, the pair represented Lithuania in figure skating at five Olympic Games (1992, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006).
Career and Personal Life
Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas initially retired from competitive skating in 2002 but decided to make a comeback before the 2006 Olympics. After their final retirement, Margarita married Povilas in 2000.
Currently, Margarita Drobiazko participates in various ice shows. In the show "Lednikoviy Period," her partners were actors Alexander Dyachenko and Dmitry Miller. Margarita also enjoys traveling, nature, and skiing.
