Early Life and Career
Maria Carmela Lanzetta was born and raised in the small town of Monasterace, Calabria, Italy. As a pharmacist, she was actively involved in her community. In 2006, she became mayor of Monasterace, quickly gaining a reputation as a courageous leader in the fight against organized crime.

Lanzetta's tenure as mayor was marked by her relentless efforts to combat the Ndrangheta, one of the most powerful organized crime syndicates in Italy.
