Mother of 38 Receives Substantial Aid after Heartbreaking Story Emerges
A Single Mother's Extraordinary Journey
Mariam Nabatanzi, a 39-year-old woman from Uganda, has become the focus of international attention after her story of raising 38 children as a single mother was shared with the world.
Financial Assistance Pours In
Following the publication of an article by journalist Godfrey Lugaaju, Nabatanzi's story gained widespread sympathy. A fundraising campaign initiated by Karo Omu raised over 22 million Ugandan shillings, providing much-needed financial assistance for the family.
Unveiling the Phenomenon
Nabatanzi has given birth to an astonishing number of children, including six sets of twins, four sets of triplets, three sets of quadruplets, and two single births. All but one of her pregnancies were natural, with the exception of her youngest child, who was born via cesarean section.
Medical Mystery
Nabatanzi has unsuccessfully sought medical explanations for her unusually high fertility. Despite her repeated pregnancies, local doctors have been unable to determine the cause.
A Traumatic Childhood
Nabatanzi's story is marred by tragedy. At the tender age of 12, she was forced to marry. Her stepmother allegedly poisoned her and her siblings, and her father showed little concern for their well-being.
Marital Turmoil
Her husband subjected her to abuse and neglect, ultimately abandoning her and their children. Nabatanzi has since been left to fend for herself and her family.
Resilience and Determination
Despite the hardships she has faced, Nabatanzi has remained steadfast in her role as a mother. She has found various sources of income to provide for her children, including starting her own business.
International Support
Former BBC journalist Kassim Kayira has also played a crucial role in raising awareness of Nabatanzi's story. He has urged the international community to support this "prolific Ugandan mother."
