Marian Zyndram-Kościałkowski

Marian Zyndram-Kościałkowski was a prominent Polish statesman who served as Prime Minister of Poland from October 1935 to May 1936. Before assuming the role of Prime Minister, Kościałkowski held various important positions in the Polish government.

Early Life and Education

Kościałkowski was born in 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He received his secondary education in the Russian capital and continued his studies at the Psychoneurological Institute there.

Military and Government Service

With the outbreak of World War I, Kościałkowski joined the Polish Legions in 1918. After Poland regained independence, he continued his military service in the newly formed Polish Army.

In 1930, Kościałkowski was appointed Voivode (Governor) of the Białystok Voivodeship, a position he held until 1934. In the same year, he became President of Warsaw, serving until June 1934. Subsequently, he served as Minister of Internal Affairs from June 1934 to October 1935.

Prime Minister and Later Career

In October 1935, Kościałkowski was appointed Prime Minister of Poland. His tenure was marked by economic challenges and political instability. He resigned from his post in May 1936.

After leaving office, Kościałkowski served as Minister of Labor and Social Welfare from 1936 to 1939. He was also an active Freemason.

Marian Zyndram-Kościałkowski passed away in 1946. He is remembered for his contributions to Polish politics and government during a tumultuous period in the country's history.
