Biography of Marianna Goncharova

Marianna Goncharova is a Ukrainian Russian-speaking writer, humorist, translator, and journalist. She was born on May 26, 1967, into a family of an English language teacher and an engineer. From a young age, she had a passion for foreign languages and literature, writing plays for children and parodies of her classmates. However, serious vision problems hindered her pursuit of her literary dreams. After undergoing a surgery to restore her lens, the author felt like she had been reborn.

Goncharova graduated from Chernivtsi National University with a degree in translation. She then worked as a tour guide, taking tourist groups to England and utilizing her language skills. Inspired by her knowledge of history, she created unique works that have been recognized as some of her best.

In 2012, Goncharova received the Russian Prize 2012 in the category of "Short Prose." Her works have gained recognition in professional circles.

Goncharova claims that she does not invent ideas for her works but instead writes about her family, close friends, pets, and work. Her stories are filled with subtle and unobtrusive humor, optimism, and contemplations on the imperfections of the world.
