Mariano Bogliacino: Uruguayan Midfielder with a Diverse Career
Early Career and Club DebutMariano Bogliacino began his football journey as a youth player for Plaza Colonia. After a stint with Villa Española, he returned to Plaza Colonia and made his senior debut in 2002.
Loan Spells and European Adventure
In 2003, Bogliacino was loaned to Peñarol before moving to Spanish club Las Palmas on another loan spell later that year. In 2004, he joined Italian club Sambenedettese, helping them reach the Serie C1 playoffs, where they faced Napoli.
Transfer to Napoli and Serie A
Bogliacino's impressive performance in the playoffs, which included a goal against Napoli, convinced the Neapolitan club to acquire his transfer rights for €600,000. In his debut season, he contributed to Napoli's promotion to Serie A. He extended his contract with the club until 2012 after the successful season.
Injury Setback and Intertoto Debut
During the 2008/2009 season, Bogliacino made his European debut in the Intertoto Cup. However, he suffered a severe injury in a match against Panionios, fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot and sidelining him for three months.
Club Loyalty and Record-Breaking Milestones
Despite interest from other clubs during the 2009 winter transfer window, Bogliacino remained at Napoli. He set a record for the club in March 2009, playing the most matches under club president De Laurentiis.
Later Career and Family
Bogliacino's subsequent seasons with Napoli and loan spells at Chievo and Bari marked a period of continued appearances. He married Florencia, and the couple welcomed two children, Celeste and Francesco.
