Biography of Marie-Helene Premont
Marie-Helene Premont, a Canadian cross-country mountain biker, was born on October 24, 1977, in Quebec City, Quebec. She has been a member of the Canadian national team since 2000 and has been competing for the 'Rocky Mountain Bicycles' team since June 2004.
Achievements
Throughout her career, Premont has achieved numerous accomplishments. In 2003, she won the bronze medal at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Kaprun, Austria. The following year, she won the silver medal at the Summer Olympic Games. She has also won the Canadian Elite Women's Championships in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
Premont has been a silver medalist in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in various locations, including Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec; Fort William, Scotland; and Livigno, Italy. In 2005, she won gold at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, and Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec.
Additionally, Premont has won two gold medals at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, and Schladming, Austria. She also won a bronze medal at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Rotorua, New Zealand, in 2006.
In 2006, at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Premont won the gold medal. The following year, she won three silver medals at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Offenburg, Germany; San Feliciano, Quebec; and Maribor, Slovenia. She finished second overall in the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup season.
Recent Performances
In the early part of 2008, Premont had a remarkable performance, winning two gold medals in Fort William and Mont-Sainte-Anne. She also claimed three silver and two bronze medals during the seven races of the 2008 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup season.
During the second stage of the Cross-Country World Cup, Premont faced challenging weather conditions, including rain and mud. Despite the difficult conditions, she finished second, narrowly missing first place by just over a minute.
