Mario Dodik: Bosnian Football Legend
Mario Dodik is a Bosnian footballer who played as a striker for several clubs and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Club Career
Dodik began his career with FK Željezničar before moving to Belgium in 1995 to join KV Mechelen. In 84 appearances for Mechelen, he scored 20 goals. He then spent a season in Turkey with Sakaryaspor before moving to Croatia to play for NK Slaven Belupo.
With Slaven Belupo, Dodik enjoyed his most successful years, scoring 75 goals in 228 matches. He also represented the club in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, notably scoring six goals against NK Varteks on October 21, 2000, in a 7-1 victory.
In 2007, Dodik left Slaven Belupo and moved to NK Cibalia, where he netted five goals in 28 games. He then joined NK Inter Zaprešić in 2008.
International Career
Dodik made four appearances for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team and scored one goal in a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein in 2001.
