Natalia Poklonskaya: A Journey from Agriculture to Politics
Early Life and EducationNatalia Poklonskaya was born in Ukraine and embarked on her higher education journey in 1988 by graduating from the Crimean Agricultural Institute named after M.I. Kalinin with the Order of Honor. In 2014, she furthered her education by completing a degree in State and Municipal Management at Vernadsky Crimean Federal University.
Agricultural Career
Poklonskaya's professional life began in 1983 as a worker for the "Put Lenina" collective farm brigade in the Simferopol district of Crimea. She quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a brigade leader in 1989 and an agronomist in 1990. In 1994, she established the "Mars" peasant farm and served as its chair.
Entry into Politics
In 2006, Poklonskaya entered local politics as a deputy of the Nikolaev settlement council, serving until 2010. Her parliamentary career began in 2007 when she was elected as a member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) as a member of the Communist Party of Ukraine. She held this position until 2012.
Ukrainian Crimea Crisis
Following the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, Poklonskaya became a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF). She served as the Prosecutor of the Republic of Crimea from 2014 to 2016.
Personal Life
Natalia Poklonskaya remains unmarried and has a son named Alexander, born in 1989.
