Biography of Marina Sirtis

Marina Sirtis was born on March 29, 1955, in London, United Kingdom. She is an American actress of Greek descent. From a young age, Marina had dreams of becoming an actress. However, her parents were strongly against it. Despite their disapproval, she secretly enrolled in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Early Career

Marina's acting career began in 1976 on the stage of the Connaught Theatre in the play "What the Butler Saw." She later appeared in a production of "Hamlet," playing the role of Ophelia. In 1983, she was offered a small role in the Hollywood film "The Wicked Lady" alongside Faye Dunaway. Two years later, Marina appeared in the Hollywood movie "Death Wish 3" with Charles Bronson. In 1986, she made the decision to move to California in the hopes of building a successful career in Hollywood. However, she struggled to find work for six months and was on the verge of returning home to England.

Star Trek and Continued Success

Just as Marina was about to give up, she received an unexpected offer to join the television series "Star Trek: The Next Generation." This role turned out to be a turning point in her career. Marina portrayed the character of Deanna Troi in the series, which aired from 1987 to 1994. Her involvement in the show allowed her to not only become memorable to audiences but also accumulate a small fortune. During this time, she also became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

After the conclusion of "Star Trek," Marina lent her voice to the animated series "Gargoyles" from 1994 to 1996. She continued to make occasional appearances in films, including "Paradise Lost" (1999), "Terminal Error" (2002), and "Crash" (2004). Marina also remained active on television, notably appearing on BBC.

Personal Life

On June 21, 1992, Marina Sirtis married rock guitarist Michael Lamper, who was one of the composers for the "Star Trek" series. The couple currently resides in Hollywood, along with their dog named Skilaki. Marina is a passionate fan of European football, especially because her younger brother, Steve, plays for one of the Greek teams.
