Biography of Marina Dilanyan
Marina Dilanyan, an Armenian artist, was born in 1957 in Yerevan. She completed her studies at the Yerevan Art Institute in 1982. Dilanyan's world is filled with peculiar beings, as there are no personified characters, favorites or unfavorites in her creations. These creatures are not unknown aliens from overused Hollywood animations or fantasy movies, nor are they fairy tale heroes. Dilanyan's mythical beings, born from her rich imagination, constantly expand her artistic realm. The multitude of details, fascinating inhabitants, and the variety of objects piled upon each other create a cleverly staged chaos that avoids falling into eclecticism.
One never tires of Dilanyan's works because life continues within them, and the viewer constantly discovers new sensations, writes art critic Henry Igityan. In Leonardo da Vinci's "Judgment", there are lines that say, "The first painting consisted of a single line that surrounded the shadow of a person cast by the sun on the wall." One might think that everything has been said and retold, but once again, masters like Marina Dilanyan are born, continuing and developing the foundations laid by our distant ancestors at the dawn of humanity, reminding us that it all started with a line. It existed, exists, and will continue to exist.
