Biography of Marissa Castelli
Marissa Castelli is an American figure skater specializing in pair skating. She is currently ranked 9th in the ISU rankings. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Marissa began skating at the age of three. Her mother, who was a figure skating coach, played a role in her early introduction to the sport. Marissa attended college after finishing high school.

Marissa initially competed as a singles skater and later transitioned to pair skating at the age of 15. She briefly skated with Brad Vigorito before forming a partnership with Simon Shnapir in April 2006. They began training together in June under the guidance of coaches Bobby Martin, Carrie Wall, Mark Mitchell, and Peter Johansson in Boston.

In 2008, Castelli and Shnapir successfully qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final and finished 6th. The following year, they won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, showcasing their potential as a pair. However, the 2009-2010 season was challenging for Castelli due to an injury that required stitches on her thigh.

Despite setbacks, Castelli and Shnapir continued to compete and achieved notable results, including a 10th place finish at the U.S. Championships in 2010 and earning a spot at the Four Continents Championships, where they also placed 10th. In 2012, their partnership briefly dissolved for a month but was soon reestablished, leading to a successful year for the duo.
They won their first national title at the U.S. Championships in 2012 and secured a bronze medal at the Four Continents Championships. Although their performance at the World Championships that year resulted in a 13th place finish, it did not diminish their overall success. In 2014, Castelli and Shnapir won their second national title and were selected to represent the United States at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
At the Olympics, they won a bronze medal in the team event and placed 9th in pair skating. Despite not being considered among the best skaters in the world, Castelli and Shnapir have proven themselves as formidable competitors within the United States. With their talent and dedication, it is possible that they will achieve even more remarkable results in the future.
